Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Renter's rights

My landlord deducted $1100 for wear and tear items and non tenant-damaged repairs. Should I send him a letter and/or email stating the deductions were not legal and ask for the additional deposit to be returned?

You have the right to dispute the deductions. Be professional, fact-based and thorough. Review and site where appropriate your lease regarding security deposit (and, if you believe you have a strong case, politely remind your landlord of any prevailing party attorney fee clause in the lease). Also specifically request a prompt response.
