Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Im renting a house and we just got a notice of trustee sale the landlord never told us anything about it! There putting the house up for sale the 23rd of this month! What should we do?

The new owner has to respect the lease you have with the old landlord. If you are on month to month then you get 90 days to stay. If you live in a rent controlled area that requires just cause for eviction then you can stay as long as you pay the rent because the new owner can't evict you unless they want to move in.

In addition to what my colleague says, you can also contact the new owner and try to continue your rental. By all means, cooperate with the new owner by providing all paperwork requested, and allowing an inspection. I have found that the surest way to get evicted is to lock out the new owner and not communicate.
