Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Renting a small house next to landlords' residence. During recent storm 2 trees on Landlords' property crashed into the deck on rental as well as onto renters' truck. Landlords' insurance said they will pay for the replacement of the deck, but not for the truck. Renter only has liability on the truck and no money to purchase another. Insurance says it was "an act of God" and therefore landlords' homeowners' insurance deosn't need to cover the truck. If it will cover his deck that was hit by the same tree, why not the truck?

...Because the contracts say they don't, and your truck is not part of the landlord's property covered by the insurance. The insurance contract may cover "additional insureds" such as you and your truck from other causes of loss, but the exceptions such as "acts of God" will prevent coverage. You're pretty much out of luck, unless you can show some means by which the trees fell without the influence of the storms, or that the trees posed a hazard which the LL knew about and had sufficient notice to correct.
