Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

repair responsibility

In a multifamily building, can the

landlord refuse to repair/replace/clean

out the septic tank we share or to

unclog the pipes, which are all

interconnected? He says I have to

arrange and pay for repairs. Is this

legal?

Re: repair responsibility

It depends on the provisions of the lease.

Read it carefully. If it mentions the septic tank, you have your answer.

If it doesn't, the law requires plumbing to be in good working order. Thus. landlord is responsible.
