Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Returning deposit upon vacating, or re-renting

If I gave my 60 days notice July 18

and moved out the next day --before

the end of my month to month

rental. Does the landlord have to

return my deposit 21 days after i

vacated? He did not find a

satisfactory replacement yet, and

he's asked me to pay August rent.

He is wrong.

Landlord must give you 60 days notice, but vice versa is 30 days notice.

You should always request a walk through.

Please resubmit with a description of your notice, or e-mail, fax, or PDF it to my office.

If you told him you would be out in 60 days, he may well force you to pay until mid-September.

Next time, consult an attorney BEFORE you act. This could be an expensive lessom.
