Do I have any rights as a tenant if the person I am leasing from decides to break the lease?

If you are a subtenant and the tenant breaches the lease so he can be evicted, as soon as he leaves you have no rights. Your landlord is the master tenant. You have been paying him rent, not the owner, so why should the owner have any responsibility toward you? You may be able to sue the master tenant for causing you damages, but you have no rights as against the landlord.
