Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Room Rental Deposit Refund
If I rented a room in a house, but I never signed any type of lease agreement. What recourse do I have with the owner of the house if he does not refund my deposit. The deposit was $900. I did not clean the house when I left, but I did clean the room I stayed in during my time there.

Re: Room Rental Deposit Refund
It depends on whether you gave proper notice -- i.e. 30 days. If not, the "landlord" could apply the money to your rent. The landlord should have provided you with an accounting of deductions within the statutory period.
