Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I have an ex roommate that is threatening me he will take legal action if I dont return to him $200. He alleges I owe him money, and actually is the other way around. Also when I was moving out he was not in the city for about 5 days, and an insurance check came in that was on both of our names-payable to either one of us ( I am the primary ins. holder). He owed me money for the rent deposit and he said he'll give them to me when the check come in. He was not answering his phone at this time, so I deposited it in my account. He is now claiming money from me and threatening me, calling me at work , talking even with my cowerkers. Can he do that?

He can take you to small claims court. As far as the phone calls at work, if it rises to the level of extreme emotional distress, there may be cause for a restraining order.
