can a landloard give a police officer the ok to search a tenants apartment if the police have a search warrant

If the police have a search warrant, they don't need the landlord's permission to conduct the search. Asking permission from the landlord would be a mere courtesy under the circumstances.

Most likely, the police asked the landlord to open the door so as to minimize damage to the entry. I hope things work out!
