Can I get my security deposit back after breaking a lease due to a roommate stea
My roommate stole a check from a box of my checks and forged it at a bank. I moved, breaking a lease. Have I still forfeited the return of my security deposit, even in the event of identity theft and fraud committed against me by a roommate?

The landlord did not chose your roomate, you did. If you want to recover your security deposit, go after the roomate.
