Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I served a 3 day quit on a tennant that did not include the amount to be paid (my mistake). In our oral communications since the tennant agreed to move out and began leaving a few items behind. He made an impression to the other tennants that he was gone and they began to move into his room. He returned angry that his space was occupied. I let him know he still had 30 days to stay and he is occupying the space. I will re serve the 3 day quit papers and add a 30 day notice as well as prepare a complaint. My question is have I covered all my bases?

You have not even got up to bat [served the notices] so we can not tell you if you have covered the bases. Try to get him to agree to a stipulated judgment that he wil leave by a certain date. Explain that you did not tell the other tenants to take over his room and point out to them that their lease does not allow for that.
