The new owner steps into the shoes of the old owner. So if you have paid your rent on time, you can only be evicted by being given thirty days notice that the owner does not intend to renew your month to month tenancy. Your security deposit can not be used to take you to court; you have to be paid that sum back unless y9 have committed unusal wear and tear damages. It seems they are just trying to frighten you.
