Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I signed a lease yesterday and after thinking about it I really cant afford this apartment. I gave her $500 deposite and she still hasnt gave me copies of the rental agreement. Im thinking its a scam. does the 72 hr cancellation policy retain to this?

There is no 72 hour cancellation policy. You are thinking about door to door sales. Immediately contact the landlord and see if they will let you out of the contract; point out that you would fall behind in rental payments. Her being slow in giving you a copy of the rental agreement [you signed it just a day ago so she has not had much time to act] does not make it into a scam.
