Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I signed a 3 month lease an the lease ends May 31, 2010. Today is May 18 and I thought I could simply move out at the end of the month, but my landlord is saying that I have to provide 30-day notice even meaning that my last day would now be June 18th and I would have to pay rent for half of June. Is this legal? The term section of my lease agreement states "The term of this Agreement is for 3 months befinning on March 1, 2010 and ending on May 31, 2010, at which time this Lease shall terminate without further notice...."

Based on the section of your lease you quoted, your landlord is wrong. You can move out on the 31st and owe no more rent. Without reading your entire lease, however, I cannot tell you whether or not that interpretation is correct.
