Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I signed a year lease, expiring on 9/30/10. My landlord served me with a 30-day notice, in California on a lease is the landlord required to serve a 60-day notice or a 30-day notice

On a lease for a term, unless the lease calls for it, there is no notice required at all. The lease just ends and the tenant is in unlawful detainer after that, unless the landlord accepts rent after the end of the lease. The 30 and 60 day notice requirements only apply to tenancy at will, which is generally called "month to month."
