Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
On site job requirement
I was terminated from my job on 11/14/08 that required me to live on site. I was advised that I had 7 days to move. I also have a wife and 3 children. I let them know that I was having a hard time finding a place to move and that there was no way I could be out in 7 days. They asked how long I needed? I didn't give them anything definite. Since then back in Nov. they refuse to contact me. They contacted a resident and discussed information pertaining to my employment and housing. She came to my wife and I and has been trying to ''mediate''? Finally in Dec. a manager came out to meet with the resident, my wife and I and let us know that we could stay until the end of Dec./first week of Jan. but said he wouldn't put anything in writing? Then the next day the resident came back and said that they would give us $1000 if we were out by 12/31/08. If we waited until 1/4/09 as he said we could the day before, we don't get the money. Guess what? We didn't get the money. The housing agencies in our area were on vacation from 12/24/08 thru 1/5/09. Plus without a job, hard to find a place to rent. I did email them to let them know the situation. They refuse to communicate with me. They haven't given us a 30 day,60 day, etc?
