Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

We sold a rental property in Aug 2007. The new owner of that property is being sued by his tenant that they signed contract in Dec 2007. Somehow the plaintiff's put my name on the suit as well. How do I deal with this situation to remove my name from being wrongfully included in the list of defendants? Is there an easy way or do I need to get an attorney to deal with this or counter sue?

You haven't listed any grounds to counter sue. In California state courts, a counter suit is called a cross-complaint. It is its own lawsuit, not a form of legal retaliation.

I suggest you speak to an attorney, who can review the complaint and determine whether or not you have any liability. Most attorneys charge an hour's service to review and draft a letter to the plaintiff, which may help get you dismissed from the lawsuit.
