Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

How to get son out of apartment

We lived on the east coast. My 23 yr old son told me if we moved to L.A. that he would pay half of rent, utilities, food, etc. He is not. He wants to stay home and write, maybe get a part time job. He is becoming abusive. His name is on the lease (despite no job) along with mine. How do I get him out? A 30-day notice detailing what he owes from this verbal agreement?

Re: How to get son out of apartment

If he is on the lease, you might have problems throwing him out, especially if the lease does not state who is to pay what. Sit down with him and discuss the problem; point out that snce he is abuisive, you can not put up with his threats, even though you love him, and that he must leave and if he continues to be abuisive you will have to call the police. Tell him tha you can simply find a new place to stay without him being on the lease or knowing where you are, and he willhave t pay the rent on the apartment you are now staying at.

Good luck.
