Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Can I sue my apartment management company?
My on-site apartment manager (hired by our apartment management company) got into my apartment without my permission and stole lots of my personal and financial information including credit cards, checks, copies of my whole family's social security cards, etc. He has committed lots of fraudulent charges on my accounts. He has moved out of my apartment complex but he was employed by our apartment when he committed the crime.
2 questions:
1. Can I sue my apartment management company?
2. Any referrals on how to get a reputable lawyer who will work on a contingency fee basis? I live in san mateo area (bay area) in California.
My question is: How do I find a good lawyer who specializes in this case?

Re: Can I sue my apartment management company?
Yes, you can sue, and you may be able to collect from the management company. This comes under the law of agency, and depending on the company's knowledge of the on-site manager's criminal potential, or past behavior.
I don't think these cases arise enough for any lawyer to be a specialist, but most lawyers who have a general practice can do a good job for you. Since Mr. Cohen invited you first, e-mail, or call him. If that doesn't work, e-mail, or call my office, and I'll try to help you.
Good luck!
