Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Sueing family member for defaulting on lease agreement

I recently purchased a new home in Winchester, California for a brother of mine. The house is under my name, but we both signed a lease agreement that he would stay in the home and rent from me for at least 3-5 years. Within 3 weeks after moving into the house, he defaulted on the lease agreement and decided he wanted to move out. Do I have any legal rights against him?

Thank you,

Re: Sueing family member for defaulting on lease agreement

from the facts given so far, you definitely appear to have breach of contract remedies available to you right off the bat, if not more. if you you email me back with specific details on the written or oral lease agreement between you two, as well as the reasons given by your brother for defaulting on the lease, i can provide you with further legal assistance and/or possible representation.
