Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I have a tenant in my commercial building who is a property management firm, they would like me to hire their services to manage my property but I feel this would be a conflict of interest, do you agree? I have used them in the past for another tenant problem I had encounted but that was before I rented my most valuable piece of property to them.

Well, obviously they cannot manage themselves as tenants. So if they are the sole tenant of that property, then it makes no sense (it's not clear if the problem with the other tenant was at this or another property). There is no reason, however, that they could not manage any other tenants and the property in general if they are a good, professional and reputable firm. You would, of course, then have to manage them, losing some benefit of hiring a firm, but on the other hand I would expect them to give you a significant discount for that very reason.
