Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
i was a tenant at greenhaven apartments i lived there for three years and during my stay there has been three managers and while i was moving out i cleaned the apartment and put it in better condition then when i moved in and they are taking my deposit and charged me additional fees for carpet and paint of nearly 600 dollars after the landlord told me that there were no problems what do i do

A landlord cannot charge you for painting unless you damaged the walls in such a way that painting was necessary. They cannot charge for new carpet, either, unless it was damaged by you. Normal wear and tear is the LL's responsibility, not yours. You will have to sue the LL in the small claims court. Good luck......
