For as long as she owns the home, you must continue to pay her rent. Once the home is sold at foreclosure, you will then be responsible to pay the new owner rent. Read some of the previous posts on this site regarding landlord & tenant and foreclosures, as there is a lot of good information available about what to expect. If you want to verify that the landlord is actually in foreclosure, you need to contact any friends you have who are Realtors, and ask them to get a property profile, or to check and see if a Notice of Default or Notice of Trustee's sale has been recorded against the home.
