I made a partial payment for my April
rent and signed an agreement to
pay the rest by the 17th of April.
Yet yesterday, I received a 3 day
Notice to Pay Rent or Quit from my
landlord.
How do I repsond to this?

If the management company/landlord also signed the agreement, then the three-day notice is premature. You should contact them verbally and in writing and remind them of the agreement. Enclose a copy with your letter.

If the Agreement you signed to pay the balance by April 17, 2009 was signed by the property owner, or its agent (property manager), then send a copy of that agreement back to them along with a letter explaining what happened, and that the landlord has agreed to accept the balance of the rent on April 17. If the agreement was not in writing, or was not signed by the landlord or his authorized agent, you need to pay the rent before the three days expires.
