Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am a tenant of a property going through short sale. There is no written agreement. What are my rights? I have been there since August of 2010 and had expected to stay there until at least July of this year. I saw that there would be 60 days notice if the house had gone through the auction process. is this the same for a short sale?

The new owner would step into the shoes of the old owner. If you had had a written rental agreement, the new owner would have had to honor it. Since your agreement is month-to-month, it appears that all the new owner needs to do is to give you proper notice to quit, subject to any rent stabilization laws that might apply.
