Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
The tenants that rent the house that i owned haven't paid me for 7 months. They gave me bouncing checks and moved out all of a sudden leaving the house in poor condition. Can I sue them for more than the 7 months of rent that they didn't pay? What kind of attorney should I get?

Yes, you can sue them, but whether you'll recover any money from them might be questionable. You might wind up paying an attorney more than you'll get back. Then, again, you can sue in small claims court for back rent and the damages, if you have someone estimate the cost to fix everything. Small claims, though, is limited to $7500.
I am handling an identical case for a client regarding a property in Castro Valley. The biggest problem that you will probably face is collecting. If you think that they can pay, however, it may be worth pursuing. If you would like a no obligation initial consultation, please contact me.
