Yes, if you haven't paid rent that was due, or you violated a requirement of the lease. If you pay the amount stated within those three days, you're safe. If the landlord simply wants you to move for no good cause, it has to be a 30- or 60-day notice, depending on the length of your tenancy. Also, if your tenancy is covered by a county/city rent stabilization act, you should check with the board regarding its restrictions.
