Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Here's the thing, I moved in with my sister and we both agreed to split everything in half for the rent. For a whole month, she did NOT pay her half and sat around the apartment all day without cleaning after herself or her son. So I had to kick her out -- I just had enough. I told her she still has to pay me her half, but she seems to have blocked me on facebook and I don't know where she moved. Is there anything I can do legally to get her to pay me?

It sounds as though you had no right to kick her out as you were equal co-tenants. You did not give her a three day notice or obtain an unlawful detainer judgment. All she would owe you is the rent for the month she was there and suing her has no effect because the cost of finding her would be more than the rent owed and then you would probably not be able to collect. She is your sister so why burn that family relationship?
