how much time do I have to give a tenant before entering the premises?

There is no absolute law on the subject, but the general guideline is that you should give 24 hours notice, unless there is an emergency or other good cause to give less. Also the notice must be written, unless you are showing the property to a prospective buyer or new tenant. In that case you can give one written notice that is good for 120 days, and you only need to give verbal notice for each entry in that time period for that purpose. You still have to give 24 hours, though.
