Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I had my tools, a couple of Harley's and some personal items in a building on property owned by my landlord.
The building burned. I lost everything and there was damage to my airstream trailer that was parked close by.
I rent an apt on the property. That's all. He doesn't want to make a claim on his insurance. What options do I have if any?

His insurance would be extremely unlikely to cover your things anyway. Did he negligently cause the fire? That would be the only other way his insurance MIGHT cover you. Did someone else cause the fire by negligence or intent? Then you can sue them. Other than that, you now have an expensive lesson in why people buy renters insurance.
I agree with Mr. McCormick. The only way that his insurance would cover you would be if your items were specifically insured (which I doubt that they were) or if the insurance company felts you had a claim against him due to his negligence.
