Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

i verbally agreed to rent an apartment for a june 1 move in date on may 5 and gave 1000,00 deposit. but on may 15 i informed the landlords that i would not be moving in anymore. can i get my 1000.00 back?

You are legally responsible for the one month of June as you agreed to rent for that period and then gave 30+days notice that you would not be renewing the month to month tenancy. The landlord has to use reasonable efforts to try to rent the place out as soon as possible, so if he is able to do so before the end of June you are entitled to get back the pro rata share of the rent.
