Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Is this a violation of consumer rights

I just moved into an apartment complex that comcast has monopalized. I tried to get a direct tv satelite but the installer would have to run the connecting wire thourgh windows and doors not allowing the to be shut properly. the reason for this being is because comcast owns the interier wiring to the apartment. Is this possible? I feel since I'm renting the apartment I should be able to use these lines for any service that the freedom of shopping could provide. Are their any ways around this so that I could get the interier cable wiring for personal use

Re: Is this a violation of consumer rights

No, there isn't. Comcast or its predecessor had to pay to have the cable installed, and they own it. When you own your own place, provided there are no CC&R's that prohibit it, you can install a satelite system.
