How long does it take to recieve a deposit back,, does that include weekends

If the landlord does not account in writing for what the security deposit is being used within 21 calendar days of your departure, the landlord must return the entire amount. That doesn't mean the landlord can't bring a lawsuit for damages including back rent, repairs, etc. Also, if you sue for return of the deposit, the landlord could counterclaim for the amounts owed.

In California, the landlord must accoutn for the disposition of the security deposit within 21 days of the vacating of the property by the tenant; 21 days is straight time, including weekends.
