Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

I had bought a dog for my boyfriend. we are no longer together and i took the dog back. He now says he will take me to court and before that he made me sign a paper saying that the dog was a gift and i would not take him away, I have that paper now as well so can he take me to small claims and win?

When you get to court, and the court officer places you under oath, you ARE going to testify truthfully, including about the existence of the letter, right?
