Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

In California, employers cannot inquire certain questions when they hire employees. Are there such limits for schools whey they require the applicants to disclose the information? Most of law schools, for example, ask whether the applicants have any criminal records. I wonder there are federal or California statutes/ regulations governing those issues.

No, and it is totally appropriate for a law school to ask an applicant whether he or she has a criminal record. Law students in California are required to be registered with the State Bar, and many criminal offenses are disqualifiers when it comes to admission as an attorney.
