Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Changing contingency fee contract and termination

Have contingency fee contract with lawyer who has accused me of not negociating with defendent in good faith on one occasion. He informed me of his feelings,-I told him I used an excuse because I was not prepared. (i.e. Was not informed that meeting was to negociate, dramatic change in claim sum by at least half-did not exactly know why, did not include other points which would have increased sum etc. etc.)He gave me a choice either to give him authority to settle a half settlement offer or go on per hour rate. I do not agree. What happens if he terminates?

As to what he can do, that depends on what your retainer agreement says. Regardless of what it says, you can fire his sorry ass anythime you want.
