Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California
Defamation of character/internet address
Are there laws about one person giving your e-mail address to a second person without your knowledge or approval?
If I received an e-mail containing slandering remarks, does it fall under the heading of defamation of character?
If there are any laws regarding the above, what do you suggest I do?

Re: Defamation of character/internet address
If the information you received concerned you and was not published to anyone else, it is not defamation. In brief, defamation is the publication of false information about you to a third party that causes that person to believe such false information, and thereby causes you harm.
