Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Harassment at work

I am a waitress, and I have worked there a few years longer than my current manager. Every shift I work with hm he seems to find something to tell me o mae me very mad or angry. He recently called me a liar for his own reasons, and has hinted that he doesn--name removed--want me working there.I have talked to the G.M. but nothing has changed. I have had the same availability for the past 2 years straight, and he just told me that I need to change it,or I will not have a job. He wants to fight with me every chance he has, and I am to te point where I hate going to work if he is there. Every employee know he treats me badly, but tells me to ignore it.I am sorry this is long but please help.....

Re: Harassment at work

Your boss is acting in a manner that is against your best interests--for whatever reason. I suggest that you call the labour relations board and discuss this with them. You may have a proper complaint. Don't quit. That is probably what this man wants. If they fire you without proper notice the employer must pay severance--which depends on the length of time you have worked for them and other matters. If someone changes your job criteria--time of work etc. they can be considered to have constructively dismissed you and they still have to pay severance. You may also want to call the Human rights authorities.
