Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Lawyer not performing duties as paid for

I'm at a standstill here, divorce was filed in Nov '98. Have been calling my lawyer for over six weeks and getting no response from her. All that is left of my divorce is to type out the property settlement, have us both sign and file with the court. Have already paid for her services in full and wondering what my legal remedies are? Do I take her to court to force her to finish, hire another attorney to complete the divorce? I'm really stuck here. All things have been settled between my wife and myself and there has been no court appearances, and no children involved.

Re: Lawyer not performing duties as paid for

you have the right to fire a lawyer at any time for any reason and they are required by law to refund any part of the fee that has not been earned.
