What does it mean when a lawyer works on a retaining fee? Does it mean that you pay them a fee to work for you?
I need one that you do not pay until you win the case and was wondering what it was called!

A lawyers retainer is a deposit of money that you put in his trust account for future fees and costs. The lawyer takes money out as it is earned. If there is any left when the work stops it is refunded. A situation where you dont pay the lawyer until the case is won is called a contingency fee.
