Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California
Process Server-- is this legit??
This morning my father was awakened at 6:20AM by a process server looking for me (I honestly have no idea what for as I have NO outstanding tickets, never been arrested, etc). Dad told me the guy was banging loudly on the apartment complex's main door, and when he answered the server ID'd himself & asked for me. I have never lived at this address, never used it, nothing-- I have no idea how whoever was serving me ended up with my dad's address. When my dad said that I had never lived there, the guy took off, literally ran away before my dad could ask what was going on.
Loud banging at 6:20AM, running away when told he had the wrong address-- this seems a little fishy, but then I've never been served. Is this normal? I'd understand such extremes if I'd been dodging the process server or anything but this is the first I've heard of it.

I would suggest checking the online docket of the court in the area in which you live to see what it's all about.
I can't say why they would go to your dad's address, other than you might have similar names.
