Can a spouse sign away my rights

Upon the advice of a non- legal representative of the EEOC my wife was told that it would not affect my rights if we were to sign a severance agreement. Unwittingly she signed the agreement after being made to think there was some time constraints or deadline. My case has been dismissed based on this letter.
