Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in California

Attorney misrepresentation

I hired an attorney earlier this year. We signed a retainer agreement and I paid him a retainer. After waiting for some time to hear from him about my case, I contacted his office. I was told by the managing partner of his firm that he never worked for that office but was only there temporarily to help out with a specific case. He represented to me that he was an associate of that office. Now, both my money and my attorney has vanished into thin air leaving me with a serious situation on my hands. I have spoken to the State Bar and was advised to send in my complaint. Is there any recourse for me if the attorney has skipped out and taken my money ?

Re: Attorney misrepresentation

You may have a case against the law firm if some representation was made that the attorney worked for that firm and that firm was aware of the representation and did not deny it. It may depend on the physical location. Please call me for free consultation.
