Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in California

Disbursement Sheet

I was involved in a lawsuit that settled just over one year ago. I have asked for a disbursement sheet several times, but have not been able to obtain one from my attorney. I was told that one of my medical bills was negotiated and paid. I asked for a copy of the check and payment to the hospital, and I have not received that either. I finally had to call the hospital, and they said there is no record of payment (I talked to several hospital reps). I received a small portion of the award, but there is still several thousands of dollars that are unaccounted for. There is still one medical bill that my attorney says he is still negotiating. Do I have the right to the disbursement sheet even though one bill is still pending? He says it is not in my best interest. Is there any statute of limitations or time factors (in California) that I should be concerned about if I had to pursue a legal malpractice lawsuit?

Re: Disbursement Sheet

I am not a CA attorney but here is a link to the California Bar Association's Web page, http://www.calbar.org/. You want to contact its disciplinary board for info on how to obtain your disbursement info from your attorney. You should contact them asap as there may be a statute of limitations.
