Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in California

fraud and misappropriation

I reported my lawyer to the State Bar, they have been investigating him now for over a year and a half.

The investigator is telling me that he most likely will be charged w/ fraud and misappropriation. He initiated a settlement conference just about a week and a half ago. We told his representsative what we wanted. Should we wait to see if he is charged or what. Not sure why he is trying to settle now, is he trying to get us to settle so we won't sue him, or is the State Bar telling him to do this?

You can always hire, and fire an attorney.

Get a new lawyer ASAP.
