Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

case searches

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the following questions:

* I would like to search all civil cases in california to find all cases, pending and decided, against a particular defendant. I just want to know how often this defendant has been sued and why. How could I obtain this information?

Thank you again for your help.

Re: case searches

Sorry it took so long to respond. I only returned to the office today. There are databases available which will search the registers of each county for law suits by party name. LA County's is available for free at hall of records in the basement.

If the doctor practices medicine only in this county your search can end there.

If you have a viable medical malpractice claim, do not pursue it yourself. Even lawyers who do not work in this field all of the time make critical mistakes. I have never, and I underline, never, saw a plaintiff succeed in a medical malpractice claim who did not have a lawyer. Without competent experienced counsel, many case that should be won are lost. Juries do not easily find their doctors medically negligent.

If you have a viable case, you can find a qualified lawyer to represent you on a contingency basis.
