Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California
doctor error caused more damage
What are the laws involving a doctor causing injury to a patient at a hospital where he had no medical priviledges? I have had 2 recent surgeries on my wrist and have had problems with scar tissue. While I was at a local hospital having a severe reaction to a medicine that a different doctor had given me to help with the pain in my wrist my surgeon decided that he would come to the hospital. While I was pretty much unconscious my surgeon tried to manually bend my wrist to try and break up the scar tissue, but he used so much force that the entire incision from my previous surgey was ripped open. Having this incision ripped open has now caused even more scar tissue that I can not bend my wrist. Since my surgeon had no privilegdes at this hospital I had to be transfered by ambulance to a different hospital to have the wound closed.

Whether there was medical negligence and whether that negligence caused injury, and what injury exactly was caused by the negligence are the critical questions. The mere fact that your doctor did not have privileges to admit at the hospital is not decisive of any of those issues.
