Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

A hospital is billing me $9,000 for couple of hours stay in their ER for chest discomfort. What can I do to fight this abuse?

Obtain an itemized billing statement. Then speak with the billing department, tell them you're a cash patient, and suggest how much you can pay. Additionally, if you are of small means, speak with the ombudsman (or outreach) person at the hospital to go to bat for you in getting the charges reduced. And, by all means, stay healthy!
