what does it mean if the defendant files a motion and the judge denies the motion as moot? Is that favorable to the defendant or plaintiff?

Re: motion & Moot
It means that the subject of the motion has already been dealt with, or the issue no longer exists. Denial of a motion usually favors the party who did not file the motion.
