Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California
Should I sue?
I was admitted to the hospital due to extreme weakness, no other complaints (no pain, etc.) I was so weak I could not work and slept most of the day and all night.
After blood tests, examinations, etc., I was placed in the hospital. The following day, I was told that they could not find anything wrong with me. They asked if I had been under unusual stress and I said yes. They said, I was ''depressed'' and they prescribed ''Paxil''.
I became delusional. I was now more weak, if possible and sleeping almost 24 hours a day. I became convinced that my husband was trying to kill me as I could not understand why I was getting weaker and weaker, unable to leave my bed. My husband then concluded that it was the medication that was wrong and I stopped taking paxil and slowly came back to life.
I then consulted with a medical expert who informed me that the hospital had misdiagnosed me because they couldn't find the reason for my illness, then based on the misdiagnosis, they prescribed medication that made me delusional and raised my blood pressure so high it almost led to a heart attack which could have ended my life.

Re: Should I sue?
While the practice of medicine is supposed to be a science, sometimes educated guesses are taken when all else fails. Obviously, you stopped taking Paxil. Did they ever figure out what was wrong? If so, talk to the doctor who correctly diagnosed you and see if she believes they did something wrong.
